Cleveland, OH (February 22, 2006)— Did you know that by the end of the year all U.S. travelers must show a passport to cross the border into Canada? That’s right; no more spontaneous overnight stays at Niagara Falls or impromptu road trips to Casino Windsor sans passport. Considering one in five Americans* has a current passport, the Cleveland Sport, Travel and Outdoor Show, taking place March 11-19 at the I-X Center, teamed up with the United States Postal Service (USPS) to offer guests a convenient way to obtain or renew a passport.

After 9-11, many security measures with regards to travel were revised. Most recently Congress mandated that Americans must have passports to travel to Canada by air and sea by the end of December 2006. Border crossing will be added to that mandate by the end of December 2007.

If you plan to partake in one of the estimated 724,000* trips Ohioans make to Canada each year, bring the following items to the USPS Booth during the Sport Travel & Outdoor Show to apply for a passport:

• Proof of U.S. citizenship: Bring a notarized birth certificate or previous U.S. passport.

• Proof of identity: Bring a driver’s license or government or military ID.

• Fees: Be prepared to pay a $67 passport fee payable to the Department of State and a $30 acceptance fee payable to the US Postal Service. Personal checks, cash and money orders are the only acceptable forms of payment. It is required to pay for each fee with a separate check or money order.

For your convenience:

• Color Passport Photo: Passport photos will be taken at the USPS Booth to ensure photo regulation guidelines.

• DS-11 Form: This form will be available at the USPS booth, but to save time you can download and complete this form before arriving at the Sports Show. Simply visit www.usps.com and click on the Government Services link at the bottom of the page. IMPORTANT: If you complete the DS-11 form in advance, Do Not Sign the form until a Passport Acceptance Agent instructs you to do so at the USPS booth.

Your proof of citizenship, photos and passport fees will be sent for processing via USPS. A new government issued passport, along with your original proof of citizenship, will be returned to you within six weeks. Adult passports are valid for 10 years
